Ceske Budejovice – Viktoria Plzen
(Viktoria Plzen -1 Asian handicap)
Viktoria Plzen was the second-best team in the 1.st division last season and have started the season well and are on 2nd place three points behind last year`s winner Slavia Prague. Home team Ceske Budejovice had a great last season as well and got promoted to the 1st division. They have started decently for a newly promoted team but are as expected already far behind Viktoria Plzen with a differential of 12 points in only 9 matches.
Plzen has been on fire lately winning their three last matches. While Budejovice lost their last match against Ostrava (2-1) and have therefore only managed to get 3 points in their last 5 matches. The lack of discipline they showed against Ostrava might cost them considering they got three starters out with suspensions. Their coach mentioned today, that it will be a weakened team that is meeting Viktoria Plzen. Plzen is also weakened since their centre-back Hejda is suspended after getting a red card last match. However, I consider Budejovice to be far more weakened than Plzen since they got their two best centre-backs suspended and also the important central midfielder Cavos Patrik. These suspensions will probably, in my opinion, cause huge defensive problems for Budejovice.
A Plzen team that is in form against a newly promoted Budejovice who have been struggling lately is a bet I cannot resist considering the generous odds and the fact that Budejovice got three players out with suspensions. We do see newly promoted teams surprising bigger clubs from time to time but considering the circumstances we do not see this happen this time. The away side has far better quality on their squad and we expect them to deliver and win comfortably in the end.
