Pick: Houston Astros -1.5 (1.83/-120)

The Houston Astros are taking on the Seattle Mariners in the afternoon at 3:40EST. Justin Verlander is having another phenomenal season with a 9-2 record, 2.27 ERA, and 103 strikeouts. His opponent Tommy Milone has a 1-1 record, 3.60 ERA, and 19 strikeouts. When these two clubs met for the first time this season Seattle was 13-2 and Houston was only 9-5. That quickly turned around as Houston is 42-20 while Seattle is 25-39.

Houston has been on a tear. Michael Brantley has recorded multiple hits in 27 games this season. The Mariners also traded a power hitter in Jay Bruce. The Mariners may have more home runs but losing Bruce will definitely hurt their chances of getting runs.  The Astros are 4-1 in Justin Verlander’s last five starts following a quality start in his last appearance. The Mariners are 9-23 in their last 32 games versus a right-handed starter. The Astros are great when Verlander pitches on the road. Milone is known as a contact pitcher (72 percent). Even with several injuries, the Astros have a lot of great hitters. The RL is a good play for this game.
